A terrific story of one man’s obsession to find the fabled lost city involved most of his adult life as well as that of his oldest son. It is a true story of how Percy Fawcett set out to become an explorer in the early 1900’s, and became obsessed with finding what he believed to be an ancient city deep in the Amazon.
The book is never boring as it describes the details of his various trips the Amazon with his fellow explorers, and how ultimately, he may or may not have found what he was looking for. It doesn’t quite answer the latter, as it remains a mystery, but is an interesting read on a lost time, and how our passions can overwhelm us if we let them.
