Looking for a good read as well as television entertainment in this Pandemic mess? I have read Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch series since it began many years ago with the fictional novel The Black Echo. The initial book in the now twenty novel series introduces LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch, a former Vietnam “tunnel rat” (if that doesn’t mean anything to you, google it. Those guys were nuts),who is a bulldog at solving murders and has an interesting family life as well. The series is one of the few that hasn’t deteriorated with age (as most do, and I am looking at you, Jack Reacher), and is a great escapist read in these depressing times. The author writes at length about police procedure, and the characters are vivid and hold up well. Give it a try to forget about the daily news.
Better yet, if you like the novels or don’t have the time or inclination to dive into them, the Amazon series Bosch just finished season six, with season seven coming soon. The episodes are well done, and the casting of the lead character Harry is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The actor Titus Welliver is Harry Bosch. A great series, and eminently bingeable.
I hope you enjoy these, pure escapism in these times is a good thing I think.
